Experimental data of temperature versus time obtained by auto-measurement with Pt-100 sensors and DUT-3000 module can be analyzed by reverse approach to find the thermal diffusivity. Through comparing the theoretical model with the experimental data, the results of liner and nonlinear data fit were obtained. In this paper, a comparison of the two fits is presented according to the results of data processing. Also the optimal measurement time interval and thickness interval for a desired result are discussed. As an example, the ice temperature profile measurements in Fenhe river, Taiyuan, China were used. The field measurement site, equipment and main results are introduced in the paper.
