In Time- Reversal (TiR), a signal is prefilteredsuch that it focuses in space and time at anintended receiver. This can be achieved by using atime-reversed complex conjugate of the channelimpulse response at the receiver as a transmitter prefilter.Several advantages come with this technique.Spatial focusing reduces co-channel interference ina multi-user system. Due to temporal focusing, theeffective delay spread of the channel is dramaticallyreduced and the complexity of the receiver is thusreduced. In this paper, we describe a series ofmeasurement campaign carried out to illustrate thespace-time focusing properties of TiR. Ultrawideband(UWB) channels are measured bysounding the channels with a sub-nanosecond pulse.CLEAN algorithm is used to extract the channelimpulse response. From the observed impulseresponse, the leverages of TR in UWB are thendemonstrated.
