This work is an extension of a previous feasibility study in which a tool was developed to examine the environmental and economic consequences of warehouse fires. The present work provides guidance for future environmental evaluations of structure fires and fire response based on experience derived from the previous work. Only the environmental aspects of the tool are addressed in this work- the economic assessment part is not included. A quantitative risk assessment (QRA) approach was used to predict the amount of damage caused by a warehouse fire with and without fire service response; the results were then applied to life cycle assessment (LCA) models to evaluate the environmental consequences. The present work extends the scope of the previous feasibility study to include feedback from users and peers, along with observations and experiences collected during the development of the tool. This information is presented in terms of potential increased accuracy, functionality, and usability of the tool, but it is also intended to provide guidance for similar research in evaluating the environmental aspects of structure fires and fire service response.
