In San Jose, exists an inadequate handling of solid waste by the local governments due to economic, political, logistic, and administrative deficiencies that make it difficult to achieve appropriate processing. Bad trash management by the settlers adds to this dilemma, especially trash of the non-traditional type (debris, furniture, mechanical remainders, among others). Among the effects the aforementioned problem has at a community level, is the contamination of the subterranean aquifers caused by the infiltration into the ground of the leachates. The aquifers are sources of drinking water, and when contaminated affect the population as it is consumed, especially in cases where craft wells are utilized or when the contaminated water is utilized for the irrigation of agricultural products. The health of the people that live near the dumps has also been affected in a more indirect way, by an increase in the prevalence of gastrointestinal and respiratory type illnesses. Those individuals who live from the recollection in the dumps are impacted more directly because they can be injured by direct contact with the waste. This issue calls for the elaboration of a descriptive investigation, where the use of remote perception images will help to build a geographical information by mapping the zone according to the impact presence of the dump has on illnesses prevalence in the community.
