An integrated drilling system, custom designed to optimizedrilling performance on the World's largest proven offshoregas field, has produced a step change in drilling performanceresulting in reducing the overall planned spud to total-depthdrilling by half.This paper will focus on how this exceptional performancewas achieved with specific focus on the new-generationpositive displacement motor (PDM) and PDC bit combinationand the "performance directional drilling" techniquesemployed.
