Pollutant measurements in indoor office buildings by reputable Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) consultants affect the determination of In-Office Air Quality and decisions on subsequent corrective actions is the hypothesis tested. A Request for Proposal was mailed to 16 consultants in the Chicago Metropolitan area. Three consultants were selected from among the seven responses received. Three office buildings were monitored. Each consultant sampled three rooms in each building simultaneously with the other two consultants for a week in accordance to a predetermined sampling design. The consultants monitored eight pollutants and temperature and relative humidity using their own instruments. A factorial analysis was run. Main effect Day has no effect. Main effect Building affects three response variables: fungi, CO2 and TVOC. Main effect Consultant affects all variables but fungi, RH and CO2 Post-hoc analysis indicates that the consultant effect is pollutant dependent. Yet, these concentration differences were not substantive from an engineering view.
