Age is a confirmed risk factor of Alzheimer's disease and progressive cognitive function impairment is a main clinical characteristics of AD. To study the role of age in the progression of Alzheimer's disease, the behavior of 3,9 and 15 months APPsw transgenic mice had been analyzed and compared. Methods: Commonly used tests for motor neuron and cognitive function were introduced to test the transgenic and non-transgenic mice of 3, 9 and 15 months of age. Results: In tests for general motor neuron function, the transgenic mice showed apparent impairment when they were rather young(3 months old) and the severity of the impairment increased with age. While in the tests for cognitive function, the appearance time and the tendency of severity of the impairment varied with tests. Conclusion: The results showed that the behavioral impairment appeared rather earlier (at 3 month's age) and the severity of impairment increased with age.
