In this paper, the author presents comparative analysis in the performance of Botkin, Pisarenko-Lebedev and Geniev-Balandin plastic flow surfaces. A number of various existing structures are used in theanalysis.The above surfaces are incorporated in the finite element models used for the calculations.The computerapplication programme used in the calculations incorporate the elasto-plastic algorithm model based on theassociated rule of plasticity and the Von-Mises maximum principle.In the analysis, care is taken to accommodate the effect of singularity at the corners of the surfaces. Theperformance of the above models is compared with corresponding models incorporating the classical plasticflow surfaces; namely: Mohr-Coulomb, Tresca and Drucker-Prager surfaces. Different engineering materialsare incorporated in the study for the identification of the suitability of application with one or the other of thegiven surfaces. Specifically, models involving soil masses and cement concrete are emphasized.Suitable Recommendations are formulated as to their applicability to approximate in-situ conditions.
