摘要

The purpose of this study is to develop a well suited finite element technique for predicting the yield clamping force and to simulate the behaviour of bolted joints tightened in plastic region. Although there have been many reports about the plastic region tightening method, their discussions were made on the rigid-plastic solution for combined loads of axial tension and torsion. In this study, the authors will discuss how to apply the finite element method for simulating the complicated hebaviour of bolt tightening process. A versatile general purpose program soft beeing on the market can not he used to solve a very specialized problem of plastic tightening. The method proposed here is applicable to the case with complicated geometry of bolt and superior to the conventional program. The numerical results agree with the experimental ones obtained by other researchers.
