This paper investigates the seismic response of shear wall structures with dampers installedwithin them. Viscoelastic, friction and hybrid dampers in different configurations and at different locationswithin the structure are considered. Structural response in terms of tip deflections and accelerations are obtainedunder five different earthquake records. Results demonstrate the feasibility of mitigating the seismic responseof shear walls by using strategically placed dampers.
