Based on the object-oriented technique, an effort has been made to give a structural framework about theproduct require ments and the basic mechanical unit(BMU) at the conceptual design stage in which the domainknowledge of the kinetic characteristics, core para meters, spatial relation of input-output, performance characteristicscost, and environment applicability on BMU is included, and the state-space theory of kinematic scheme design and thecorresponding optimal technique are integrated. It is successful to confirm the solution space of the design scheme, togenerate the multi-design schemes, and to ascertain automatically the search depth by using this method. It also has theadvantages of avoiding the combinatorial explosion of solutions and reducing the invalid results. It is an effectivedesign method on the conceptual design.
