摘要

The experimental study on the correlation between tool condition and cutting force in facing is presented.The facing experiments were carried out on a lathe without coolant. It is found with the experiments that the cuttingforces along tangential (Z), radial (X) and axial (Y) directions increase with increase in flank wear width of cuttingtools. However the cutting force ratios among those components show little correlation with tool wear. Among the threecomponents of the cutting forces, the radial cutting force is the largest while the axial force is the smallest. Thetangential component of the cutting force is proportional to flank wear width. The radial cutting force increases moresignificantly when sever tool wear happens. The cutting force signals in frequency domain demonstrate similar results.
