Research for years indicates that cutting speed cannot be improved any further in accordance with existingcutting theory due to the cutting properties of tool material. In this paper, a new theory on super high-speed milling isput forward based on the analysis of temperature effect of super high-speed milling in which the temperature incutting zone increases as a result of distortion and fiction whereas the stiffness and hardness of workpiece descendprominently. On the other hand, the temperature of cutting-tool is kept under 300°C to make tool hardness invariable.Thus the ratio of cutting tool and workpiece hardness increases greatly to carry out super high-speed( v = 8,500m/ min ) milling. The theory has already been proved reasonable by cutting.
