In this paper the quantitative risk assessment of an hydrogen fueling station feeding a fleet of about 2000 fuel cellvehicles is carried out. The station operates with compressed hydrogen produced through a steam methane reformingprocess. The study identifies main release scenarios and evaluates their consequences including effects of fires andexplosions. As a result the extension of possible damage zone is evaluated and both individual and societal risk arecomputed. The analysis shows that an acceptable risk level results and that such a facility can be located in urban orresidential areas provided that proper engineering and operational risk mitigation measures are adopted.
