TREATMENT AND VALORIZATION OF POLLUTED SEDIMENTS

Most often these products are contaminated with heavy metals and organiccomposites. As an important area in our country, North of France is concerned with sedimentscoming either from rivers and channels or sea ports, the main objective of thisstudy is to investigate the possible reuse of such materials. The main advantage of theNOVOSOL? process, designed by the Solvay Company, is its ability to treat various pollutants,from hydrocarbon type to heavy metals, within a low cost. As a result, sediments,treated like this, can be regarded as a new product which could be valuable.This paper will discuss of the characterization method and program of treatedsediment with a view on the used device to perform the various experimental tests. Somepreliminary results will be exposed on bricks and mortar compound with high proportionof sediments.
