This article presents the development of a computational toolto guide horizontal gravel pack design for long horizontaloffshore wells. Mechanistic model formulation,experimentation at a large scale flow loop and softwaredevelopment are detailed. The computer simulation results arethen compared with field data collected in Campos Basinoperations, offshore Brazil. A discussion on designalternatives for long horizontal well at low frac gradientformations is presented. This discussion includes a sensibilityanalysis on screen eccentricity, open and closed BOPconfigurations and alpha vs alpha plus beta wavedisplacement options.
