The deposition technology developed by Global Solar Energy, Inc. (GSE) enables the manufacture of highly efficient, lightweight, flexible photovoltaic (PV) modules based on Copper Indium Gallium diSelenide (CIGS) thin-film (TF) absorbers. GSE is the only company in the world to produce commercially available CIGS modules on a flexible substrate, (see figure 1) and its manufacturing plant in Tucson, Arizona, is the world's first production facility to deposit CIGS-based TF PV on a continuous substrate using all roll-to-roll (RTR) processing.
