As a remarkable feature in Next-generation Networks (NGN), multimedia services bring new requirements to both call control function and its abstract presentation - call model. In this paper we first reviewed typical related works on call modeling. Aiming at the requirements we concluded, a novel two-layer call model is proposed, including Multimedia Call State Model (MCSM) and Connection State Model (CSM). The proposed call model provides sufficient control capabilities in a flexible and easy-to-use manner for multimedia services. The structures and characteristics of the call model are presented in detail. Finally, the proposed call model is compared with related works and some conclusions are given.
