In this paper, we develop a novel UWB receiver based on ML algorithm. Considering the characteristic of cyclosta-tionary inherent in UWB signaling, we got the local template in the match receiver by simply averaging the received signals. By this way, the local template will match the received signal better than using the sending waveform as the local template like the narrowband. This ML algorithm can be easily implemented without channel estimation as the traditional Rake receiver did. The simulation shows that this method has BER advantage over the traditional RAKE receiver with maximal ratio combining at high SNR, and over the autocorrelation receiver as well.
