The possibility of the amorphous state obtaining by mechanical alloying (MA) from various initial materials in multicomponent Zr- and Fe-based alloys is studied. It is found, that the rate of amorphous state transition in Zr-based alloys occurs more rapidly when glass-forming compounds (GFC) were taken as initial reagents instead of elemental powder mixtures (EPM). In Fe-based alloy it is possible to obtain the single-phase amorphous state by using only GFC. Thermal properties of amorphous phase produced by MA of glass-forming compounds mixture are identical or even better as compared with one obtained by obtained by melt quenching.
