The effects of low-intensity ultrasound on biologicalsystems have been intensively investigated during the pastdecade. We used a novel recombinant RGD-containingprotein (CBD-RGD), as well as ultrasonic stimulation toenhance the seeding of endothelial cells on the luminalsurface of polyurethane small-diameter vascular grafts.Ultrasonic stimulation did not have a significant influenceon the proliferation of endothelial cells, but it increasedthe extracellular matrix secretion from the cells. Cellsafter ultrasonic treatment also demonstrated much firmeradhesion to the graft surface.
