This paper describes 3D-CAD design education for mechanical engineering students at the Kochi University of Technology. For such a design education, several examples of design exercises are given as sample subjects as well as elective subjects, which students can select. In the next step, products, such as wind power generators that have already been manufactured, were selected as the design goals. From the viewpoint of research interests, wind power generators using rare-earth material permanent magnets were studied. 3D-CAD design education using such a real product is considered to be an important step in their fundamental understanding of design. This needs to be carried out before students start creating their own new products in industry. On the other hand, internet multi-station design will be realized in the very near future in industry. 3D-CAD and internet design are expected to be a part of the new design curriculum in universities. As an example of students' product design work, a small-sized hand-made electric vehicle is also introduced.
