Special grades of powdered nitrile rubber have beendeveloped to tailor-make thermoplastic elastomers inblends with plasticized PVC. This paper reviews thebenefits of such blends compared to PVC alone, typicallyimproved heat ageing resistance, better elastic recovery,lower plasticizer migration, and improved weatherability.This paper shows how such PVC/NBR alloys can betailored to meet specific requirements for novel gasketsand seals, replacing other materials in these applications.
