ISO TC 67 SC 7 WG 8 AN INTERNATIONAL STANDARD FOR ARCTIC OFFSHORE STRUCTURES

In 2000, the International Standards Organisation (ISO) re-allocated priority to an Arctic Structures Standard. Canada, having an active process and committees in place for Arctic Structures, took the initiative to propose a new work item to ISO, at the Milan meeting of ISO TC67 in January 2002. In response to the Canadian initiative, ISO Technical Committee 67 (TC67), Sub-Committee 7 (SC7 - Offshore Structures) approved on January 30th, 2002, a New Work Item Proposal (NWIP) to develop new and harmonise existing international codes and standards related to "Petroleum and natural gas industries - Arctic offshore structures". This paper describes the issues being addressed by WG8, its scope of work, current membership and progress to date.
