The goal of this paper is to integrate theConceptual Mapping Model with an ontology-based knowledge representation(I.e. Suggested Upper Merged Ontology(SUMO)) in order to demonstrate thatconceptual metaphor analysis can be restrictedand eventually, automated. Inparticular, we will propose a corporabasedoperational definition for MappingPrinciples, which are explanations of whya conventional conceptual metaphor has aparticular source-target domain pairing.This paper will examine 2000 random examplesof 'economy' (jingji) in MandarinChinese and postulate Mapping Principlesbased frequency and delimited withSUMO.
