摘要

The paper considers the problem of capacity constraints at an educational centre. Itbegins with an economic analysis of the effect on capacity due to an increase in demandfollowed by a discussion on the limitations of such an analysis. The problem is thentackled by using Causal Loop Analysis and a System Dynamics model and a deeperunderstanding of the problem is obtained. Full use is made of the archetype 'shifting theburden'. Modelling using SD gives management a practical tool for solving problemsespecially in its treatment of delay lags.
