1. Inversion methods (MLM, MEM, EMEP) influence the results but are far less important than the inherent physical measurement. 2. The ADCP peak direction is unbiased. 3. The ADCP is able to reliably reproduce the real directional distribution even in the presence of multiple peaks to within about 5 degrees. 4. Because the ADCP array combines phase information from both location dependent phase and amplitude phase measurement, the directional resolution is relatively uniform over frequency. 5. Because triplet processing is under-constrained, the ability to reproduce the true directional distribution is very dependent on the shape of that distribution, even using EMEP, MEM, and MLM.
