DESIGN OF ON-LINE COURSES IN ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION WITH FLASH AND JAVA-APPLETS

The German FernUniversitat at Hagen has now more than 25 years of existance and went to all stages known from media development in distance education systems. However in the past adjustment has been relatively smooth and stepwise new media have been incorporated such as Video, TV, videoconferences and computerconferencing systems. This framework changed fundamentally when the objective came up to transform the existing distance teaching system into a fully virtual university system. These ideas started at the end of the 90s. To avoid misinterpretation we will caracterize a virtual university as one that delivers all functions of the classical university without moving physical objects or persons, i.e. enrollment, study material development and distribution of the material, exams, counselling and tutorials, library services and other administrative services are delivered via electronic networks. Therefore a virtual university is essentially one that delivers all its services via networks.
