Development of The New Washington DC Convention Center -Heating Cooling and Power Plant

Washington, DC continues to experience a tremendous growth in the number of visitors andConventions being held in our Nations Capital. In order to accommodate this tremendousgrowth the Washington Convention Center Authority developed an innovative concept for anentirely new world-class facility. During the initial planning stages of this new $756 millionfacility, the Washington Convention Center Authority recognized the significance ofimplementing the most efficient and reliable energy system possible, and they wanted aninnovative, local, experienced team to ensure it’s success. The scope of the Energy Servicesfor this 2.3 million square foot facility includes 10,500 tons of chilled water and 50,000,000BTU’s of hot water capacity.A partnership of Pepco Energy Services and Trigen Energy Corporation was selected todesign, procure, construct, commission, operate and maintain, the Heating, Cooling andPower Plant.
