Using Taguchi Loss Functions as an Aid in Selecting The Right Position in Academics: The Case of MIS Professors

Taguchi Loss Functions (TLFs), a technique commonly used in a manufacturing environment, is suggested as a methodology for ranking potential job positions. The job applicant selects the criteria considered important and assigns a target value and limit. The applicant then applies TLFs resulting in a rank order of jobs.
