The 68 kWp PV system was installed on shading canopies in a parking area at the University of Jaen and forms part of the UNIVER Project funded under the European Commission's THERMIE Demonstration Programme. The analysis presented in this paper covers the period of operation between November 1999, shortly after system installation, to October 2000. The paper describes the determination of typical performance levels during normal operation, the investigation of the system losses and prediction of annual output and yield values. Close agreement was obtained between predicted and measured performance ratios. The average annual system efficiency was determined to be 8.1%, with an average performance ratio of 65.4%, for periods of full operation. The measured annual yield for the system was 833 kWh/kWp. However, using the calculated data, an annual yield of 1170 kWh/kWp is predicted in the absence of any operational problems.
