10cm x 10cm Single-Crystalline Silicon Thin-Film Solar Cell 40μm thick on a Plastic Film

A 10cm x 10cm single-crystalline silicon thin-film solar cell 40 μm thick was fabricated on a plastic film using the porous layer separation technique. The use of a removable adhesive film has made possible a novel solar-cell fabrication process which does not involve photolithography, so that a large-area single-crystalline silicon solar cell can be fabricated. Only one screen-printed mask was used in this work. This technique is applicable to a flexible-type single-crystalline silicon solar cell for curved surfaces. Bending of a single-crystalline silicon solar cell is demonstrated.
