The northern coastal area of the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, is characterized by a wide dune chain, which also forms the phreatic aquifer and the recharge area for the zone. Three water types exist: calcium bicarbonate, magnesium bicarbonate and sodium chloride. The hydrochemistry of the aquifer is analyzed using inverse modeling. The results obtained show the different processes that can explain the observed compositions. The processes are: calcium carbonate equilibrium, cation exchange and seawater mixing.
