13 novel oxamide-bridged rare earth-copper heteropentanuclear complexes of the formular Ln[ Cu(PMoxd)]_4 (CIO_4)_3·5H_2O(PMoxd denoted the N, N' - Bi (α-pyridylmethyl)- oxamide dianion) have been synthesized and characterized. Based on the elemental analysis, IR, electronic spectra, the oxamide-brideged structure was proposed. The magnetic susceptibility data of the complex Gd[Cu(PMoxd) ]_4(ClO_4)_3·5H_2O was measured in the range 4 ~300K, and they were fitted with the susceptibility equation based on the spin Hamiltonian using least-square fitting method, which leads to the exchanged integral J = 1.38 cm~(-1), indicating the ferromagnetic interaction in the [Gd~Ⅲ-Cu~Ⅱ] complex.
