A Resource Reference Technique Independent from Scheme and Location

The technique by which can flexibly refer to resources such as program contents or others is necessary to achieve services using several media. Now there is URL, Uniform Resource Locator, which is one of the resource reference techniques. However, this is the method to specify the scheme and location to access the resource exactly. When the demanded resource exists in a home network, the scheme and location cannot be specified. Moreover, when there is a change of the location to refer to resources on the air or network, it is impossible to determine the whereabouts of the resource to refer. In this paper, we propose the technique to refer to resources responding to users' environment dynamically. When referring to the resource from a data broadcasting contents, we define the identifier that can be uniquely identified. This identifier called Resource ID is independent of the scheme and location. As a result, the digital broadcasting contents become starting points of the existing media, such as programs, web contents, packaged media and others. This technology can achieve the information convergence and integrations in the home environment.
