Multiple-Person Tracking System using Pan Tilt Zoom Cameras

摘要

In this paper, we propose a tracking system using pan tilt zoom cameras that can track multiple persons in an observation area. The system assigns either monitoring or tracking role to cameras. The monitoring camera has wide visual field and observes an entire scene and provides position information of the targets. The tracking camera tracks the target and obtains the high-resolution images of it using zooming function. We dynamically change these roles to observe important targets in detail and keep tracking them. The proposed method is implemented in PCs that are connected with LAN. Experimental results show the system can track two persons in the real environment.
