Custom-designed software packages incorporating thermodynamic, phase equilibrium andviscosity models are being developed by the Cooperative Research Centre for Coal inSustainable Development (CCSD) and Pyrometallurgy Research Centre (The University ofQueensland, Australia). The paper outlines the development status of the specialised computertools that can be used to assist in solution of numerous coal utilisation technologies, includingash slag flow, deposit formation, slagging, fouling, fusibility tests, fluxing, blending etc.PyroCalc software has been developed and applied to produce an Ash Fusion Temperature andLiquidus Calculator. PyroApp and PyroSoft customised software packages have beendeveloped for calculations of the liquidus temperatures, proportions of the liquid and solidphases at sub-liquidus temperatures and viscosity of the homogeneous and heterogeneous(partly crystallised) slags in the system SiO_2-Al_2O_3-“FeO”-CaO (in reducing conditions).
