E-Manufacturing is the latest buzzword to come out of the e-hyperbole world, following e-commerce and e-business. Because goods cannot be "e-manufactured," only physically manufactured, confusion abounds when e-Manufacturing is discussed. This paper defines the business and technology basis for the principles of e-Manufacturing, explores its motivations, and discusses issues encountered when companies apply e-Manufacturing.
