An implicit-finite difference technique is employed to solve non-stationary coupled partial differential equations governing the transient free convection flow of a stratified medium past a semi-infinite vertical plate. Transient velocity, temperature, steady-state local and average skin-friction and Nusselt number are shown on graphs and the effect of stratification on the flow of stratified air is discussed.
