Study on the magnetic system of hybrid stepping motors in the paper argues that the magnetic characteristic of a general phase winding can be described by a family of magnetization curves of two branches of that particular winding pole path. Based on the perspective, the non-linear characteristic of winding inductance, with the consideration of self- and adjacent currents; the rotor position, is analyzed, which leads to the correct and comparatively perfect understanding on the essence of non-linear characteristic of winding inductance.
