Thermodynamic considerations revealed the advantage of heterogeneous slags saturated with solid lime and solid tetra-calcium phosphate. With these slags, the activities of P_2O_5 remain constant, and at the same time permits a reduction in slag volume. For heterogeneous slags of high phosphorus concentration, the presence of CaF_2 would not be advantageous from the standpoints of the FeO and P_2O_5 activities and the slag fluidity.
