摘要

Along the northern coast from Ganpu to Jinshan of the Hangzhou Bay in southeast China, there is a stable deep channel―he Northern Channel, suitable for harbor construction and navigation. The possible siltation effect of several reclamation projects in Qiantang Estuary on the channel has been investigated in a hydraulic model of suspended load and local movable bed. Conforming to the similarity principles of suspension and threshold of motion, an anti-rot saw dust is chosen as model sand. Each tidal cycle in the test was controlled by flow time scale while the sediment concentration scale and the number of tidal cycles were determined by calibration tests. On the basis of agreeable calibration, the research resulted from the model tests offers a reliable scientific basis for comprehensive exploitation and regulation of the Hangzhou bay. Moreover, the design and the running of the model may provide beneficial references for sediment model tests of tidal estuaries.
