In the Auguste Victoria mine a bolted rectangular roadway has been kept open for the first time in the seam D/C after retreat. The target of the project was to gain a basis for planning and experience for future mining layouts in the same seam in view of the reuse of bolted rectangular roadways. For this the roadway was additionally secured in sections with longbolts before the influence of the retreating panel had taken place. On retreat a concrete sidepack was concurrently put in place on the face side. The installed monitoring systems consisted of endoscopic devices, multiple extensometers (Tell-Tales), shear-tales, extensometers and convergence measurements. The experience that was gained was carried over into a physical and numerical model.
