It's Anybody's Guess - Impacts of Turbine Installation on an Angle

Installation or refurbishment of a hydraulic turbine/generator which is built on an angle issignificantly more complex than either a vertical or horizontal shaft machine, for manyreasons. If unaware of the fundamental differences that come with an angled, or inclinedunit, installers could find themselves unprepared in a number of areas, all of which affectcost and schedule. This paper delineates the specific challenges faced during a typicalinclined unit installation or overhaul. It gives examples from a recent overhaulexperience and emphasizes the planning necessary to eliminate costly errors.
