In support of a transition to new accident source terms, the postaccident supporession pool chemistry at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) was evaluated using the available NRC research. This analysis concluded that the CsOH released from the core was sufficient to maintain the suppression pool pH above a value of 7 for the 30-day post-accident dose period. Sensitivity analyses considering lower CsOH releases demonstrated that, althought he pool pH may drop below 7, this transient would occur late in the accident. The radiological impact of this late-term pH transient was shown to be insignificant at GGNS. On these bases, Entergy Operations has concluded that post-accident suppression pool pH control is not required at GGNS.
