Hydrogen Combustion Analysis of Dry-Type PWR Plant in Japan

Hydrogen concentration in containment vessel generated by Zr-water reaction during severe accidents of dry-type PWR plants in Japan is confirmed less than 13 volume percent. However, the fact that detonation can occur on the condition of 12.5 volume percent hydrogen concentration has been informed from abroad. So we verified no detonation occurrence with hydrogen combustion in 13 approx 15 volume percent hydrogen concentration of dry-type PWR plant containment vessel in Japan because of large volume and open system of sections in containment vessel by analysis using a three-dimensional hydrogen combustion analysis code SODIV- on the condition of normal temperature and dry environment. We finally confirmed retention of integrity of the containment vessel against hydrogen generated in severe accidents.
