In considering the links between asynchronous discussion and reflection, it is salutary to remember that there is nothing inherent in the medium and reflection arises through curriculum design (McCabe 1998). This is an ongoing process which will be carried out through an action research approach. At the end of the first iteration, feedback will be obtained from the students and the guest commentators, and an evaluation will be made. Some peer discussion and feedback on the on line approaches will also be carried out. This will also enable a sharing of practice. A plan for the next iteration of the module will then be devised.
