The Representative Ensemble and its Application to 1/f Type Random Processes

A 'representative' ensemble and the power spectral density of a random process are defined. The power spectral density is used to distinguish between 'true' and 'pseudo' 1/f type random processes. Use of the representative ensemble facilitates synthesis of 1/f type random processes and synthesis based on binary 'digital' waveforms is demonstrated. Several open questions are outlined.
