Since submerged blowing of gas rose as a technological domain, constant cross-sectional area lances (tuyeres) have been more and more extensively applied to metallurgical processing operations. For many metallurgical processes, tuyeres are mostly used as the gas supply devices to blow the active gases (such as oxygen) and / or the inert gases (for example, argon) into the melt, besides porous refractory brick type elements. Whether the blowing operation is able to be conducting smoothly, its effectiveness, and the lives of the refractory lining and the tuyere itself would be dependent , to a large extent, on the design and performance of the tuyere. The reliable and accurate estimation and prediction for the related property parametes of a gas stream in a tuyere would be very important for bringing about the optimization of the tuyere design and blowing technology
