Through numerical anlaysis and experiment, the pattern of gas transport in upper corner of coal face under direct pulsed ventilation was studied. Then to counter the limitations of direct pulsed ventilation, a new mehtod of pulsed ventilation with rotary jet for prevention and control of gas accumulation in upper corner was put forward. Based o nthe drawing proeprty and deforming characteristics of rotary jet, the process of gas transport and gentle discharging effect of pulsed ventilation with rotary jet on accumulating gas in upper corner was explained. Finally, it is proved by experiment that pulsed ventilation with rotary jet is effective on preventing and controllign gas accumulation in upper corner of coal face.
